Syntekabio Patents Eco-Friendly Data Center, Eyes KRW 2B Revenue
|
The patent covers a structure that enables air circulation and cooling without separate HVAC facilities by leveraging the principle of natural convection. Inspired by termite nest structures, Syntekabio designed the data center to ensure stable server operations without large-scale power consumption for cooling.
Traditional data centers consume significant amounts of electricity for air conditioning and cooling. In contrast, Syntekabio’s ABSC center is designed to utilize airflow from each server’s fan to naturally expel hot air, allowing for effective thermal control solely through natural convection.
During normal operations, the system relies exclusively on natural convection, with auxiliary HVAC equipment used only in hot and humid summer months. This design minimizes unnecessary power consumption, maximizes energy efficiency, and reduces carbon emissions. The center achieved a PUE(power usage effectiveness) of 1.13, presenting a breakthrough eco-friendly alternative to conventional data centers.
Earlier this year, the ABSC center earned the highest Platinum grade of Green Data certification. The newly granted patent serves as official recognition of the originality and innovation of Syntekabio’s eco-friendly data center technology.
Since launching its data center colocation business earlier this year, Syntekabio has signed service contracts with two companies and is currently in talks with several others. The company expects to finalize additional contracts by year-end, expanding its service base.
With these agreements, Syntekabio forecasts stable recurring revenue of at least KRW 2 billion annually starting next year, with potential to reach KRW 3 billion annually if the facility is fully leased. This would strengthen its stable revenue base and enhance the resilience of its overall business model.
A Syntekabio official stated, “Data centers are core infrastructure for the AI industry but also consume enormous amounts of energy. Syntekabio sought answers from nature, establishing a new eco-friendly standard with a cooling-free data center. This patent is a milestone that solidifies our technological differentiation. Moving forward, we aim to generate stable recurring revenue based on eco-friendly technology, expand our data center business, and establish ourselves as key infrastructure leading the AI industry.”
